Warri Pledges Full Implementation of SERVICOM in Isoko South as Funkekeme Leads Awareness Drive

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has pledged strict adherence to the full implementation of SERVICOM principles within the council. He urged civil servants to show renewed dedication by consistently reporting to their duty posts, regardless of location.

Chairman Warri issued this charge on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, who led a delegation of the SERVICOM team to the council’s secretariat in Oleh.

Expressing gratitude to Hon. Solomon for taking time to sensitize the council’s staff and management on the objectives of SERVICOM, Warri assured that his administration would partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful and timely implementation. He emphasized that the council would leverage SERVICOM to enhance service delivery and align with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“SERVICOM, as I understand it, is about providing excellent service to our people,” Warri stated. “I have always believed in leading by example—showing up consistently, even when the challenges are many. Sadly, some civil servants treat every Friday like a public holiday and are still expectant of full government benefits. That must change.”

The chairman recounted his visit to Ikpide-Irri where he met only one teacher—the headmistress—on duty. He criticized the obstruction of staff postings to rural areas, often driven by internal resistance from top civil service officials, calling for an immediate change to such practices.

“We are paying the new minimum wage in Isoko South, thanks to our M.O.R.E. agenda government,” he added. “But for us to deliver, we must take a firm stand on discipline and accountability.”

In his address, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon reaffirmed that Governor Oborevwori had reintroduced SERVICOM as a key strategy to drive effective service delivery across Delta State. He commended Chairman Warri for his exemplary leadership and visible achievements in Isoko South, stating that his performance has gained widespread recognition.

“Every local government chairman is a mini-governor. The success of the M.O.R.E. agenda depends on how well service is delivered at the grassroots,” Solomon said. “We’ve established a whistleblowing line for community feedback on projects. Councils are expected to adopt similar mechanisms to stay connected with the people they serve.”

Solomon emphasized the importance of sensitizing all government agents on acceptable service delivery standards, reinforcing that SERVICOM is not a slogan, but a responsibility.
