The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, on Monday, commissioned the remodelled official residence of the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, in Oleh.
While commissioning the project, the Speaker applauded the initiative, describing it as a step in line with the vision of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda. He urged the council chairman to continually consult with the people on development matters and ensure that all projects meet acceptable standards.
“What the chairman has done here is a worthy complement to the state government’s M.O.R.E. initiatives. I encourage continued engagement with the people in all your undertakings,” the Speaker stated.
He assured the people of Isoko South that Governor Oborevwori remains committed to delivering on his promises, noting progress on state-wide projects such as the Asaba/Ughelli Motorway, and added that all 29 members of the House of Assembly are united in their support for the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Chairman Friday Ovoke Warri explained that the project became necessary due to the lack of a habitable official residence for the council chairman.
“When we assumed office, one of the first things we did was to engage with relevant security agencies to ensure a safer Isoko South,” he said.
He highlighted early achievements of his administration, including:
Road rehabilitation efforts, especially around Ogbemudia and other critical areas.
Solar electrification of both the council secretariat and the chairman’s residence.
Plans to launch an official local government website, which will help connect local artisans and professionals with job opportunities and bring governance closer to the people.
The event also featured the unveiling of the official logo of the Isoko South people by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Kelly Penawou. The logo, he said, symbolizes the rich cultural heritage, agricultural strength, and the educational values of the Isoko people.
